About Beyond Baked Beans

Hi, I’m Jo Seecharan. I’ve always had a love of food and cooking, ever since I was a young child helping my grandma in her kitchen in Middlesborough. Her cakes, scones and chips were legendary, so I must have picked up the cooking gene from her. Since then I’ve travelled the world and added foods from places like India, the Middle East, Thailand, China and Japan to my repertoire.

The catalyst for the creation of Beyond Baked Beans was the cooking party I held for my daughter’s 10th birthday. All the kids had a great time and soon after I got several requests to organise their birthday parties, too, and Beyond Baked Beans was born.

Its mission is to help people cook healthy, nutritious and natural food while at the same time having fun and making connections in the community.

We warmly welcome children with SEN/disabilities, and their families in our classes, too.

Cooking can be quicker, cheaper and easier once you’ve learnt a few basics so come and join us. You’ll have loads of fun and your kitchen confidence will increase in no time.
